Chicago Rewired, a North Carolina-based eight-piece band, brings their passion to keep timeless music and memories alive to the Athens Theatre in DeLand at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29.

In 1967, Chicago musicians Walter Parazaider, Terry Kath, Danny Seraphine, Lee Loughnane, James Pankow, Robert Lamm and Peter Cetera formed a group with one dream: to pull together their city’s diverse legacy of musicianship and create something altogether new.

Chicago became one of the longest-running and most successful pop/rock groups in history, with record sales topping 100 million, including 21 top-10 singles, five consecutive No. 1 albums, 11 No. 1 singles and five gold singles.

In the summer of 2015, Charlotte, North Carolina, drummer Mike Graci had an idea: He wanted to break away from the run-of-the-mill cover music he heard being played around town.

So he worked to put together something special. He began diligently seeking out the musicians required to realize his vision.

With all the pieces in place, the group established itself as Chicago Rewired — The Premier Chicago Tribute Band.

Chicago Rewired comprises a unique blend of talented and seasoned musicians from all over the Charlotte and Piedmont Triad areas of North Carolina, who have joined forces with the common goal of accurately replicating the timeless music of Chicago — the soundtrack to great memories for so many people.

Kerry Craig sings the lead vocals; David Miller is on keyboards and vocals; founder Mike Graci is on drums; Justin Martin plays bass and sings; Robert Bussey is on guitar and vocals; Music Director Doug Norton plays saxophone and offers additional vocals; Jon Mills plays trumpet, fluegelhorn and flute; and Allen Beck plays trombone.

Come out to a show, forget about the cares of life for a while, and let the music of Chicago Rewired carry you away as you enjoy songs like “25 or 6 to 4,” “If You Leave Me Now,” “Hard Habit to Break,” “You’re the Inspiration” and so many more!

Chicago Rewired will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the historic Athens Theatre, 124 N. Florida Ave. in Downtown DeLand.

Tickets cost $35 for preferred reserved seating (first six rows orchestra, and two rows center balcony), and $30 for general reserved seating. A $3-per-ticket processing charge and 6.5-percent sales tax will be added to each purchase.
