Pesticide workers can earn up to six continuing education units (CEUs) during Pesticide CEU Day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension is sponsoring the program, which will have an Old West theme.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Marc Branham, an associate professor in UF’s Department of Entomology and Nematology. A leading authority on fireflies, he will discuss the insects’ habitats, systematics, mating and species diversity.

Other topics include field buffers, new plant selections for the landscape, mitigation pesticide exposure, weed control and commonsense landscape tactics.

The $60 fee includes lunch.
