Mask confusion? Follow the president’s advice

BEACON PHOTO/ELI WITEK MASK DEBATE — In late August, residents protest in favor of parental choice about masks for schoolchildren. Their viewpoint prevailed; parents may now opt their children out of school mask requirements.

Editor, The Beacon:

There seems to be a lot of confusion about masks. Some are wearing masks, and others are not. Some are also wearing masks for all the wrong reasons.

When COVID started, we were asked to wear masks to prevent us from spreading our germs to others. Remember “if not wearing a mask, sneeze/cough into your elbow.”

Somehow that has evolved into people wearing masks to not get germs from others. When someone sneezes, those particles float around and get in your eyes. Remember “avoid touching your eyes with your hands.” Wearing a mask does nothing to prevent that.

If you want protection from germs when you are out and about, you should wear swim goggles and snorkel; you can leave the fins at home.

The folks currently in charge in Washington want to control you and will do so if you let them. Let’s ditch the indoctrination politics and instead use science and common sense.

President Biden in May instructed our country in a national TV address that if you are fully vaccinated you no longer need to wear a mask. I am following his advice and suggest others do as well.
