Family Health Source is distributing COVID-19 tests in West Volusia today, Jan. 4, at locations in DeLand, Deltona and Pierson.
“We had about 7,200 [tests] for Volusia County,” CEO Laurie Asbury told The Beacon. “Right now we’re doing Deltona, DeLand and Pierson.”
Tests will be given away today until 3 p.m. or when supplies run out. Attendees at the giveaways are eligible for two tests per vehicle.
Locations for giveaways are:
- The Family Health Source clinic in Deltona, 1200 Deltona Blvd.
- The parking lot at the corner of East Hubbard and South Alabama avenues in DeLand
- The Family Health Source clinic in Pierson, 216 N. Frederick St.
The available tests are rapid antigen tests produced by the company Quidel. Tests were supplied by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.
Rapid antigen tests yield results in 10 minutes.
“It works best if people use them if they have symptoms,” Asbury said. “The idea is if you’re feeling sick, take it. If not, don’t just take it to take it.”
While no definitive dates for future giveaways are set, Asbury said the company anticipates receiving more COVID-19 tests soon.
