The DeLand Fire Department, Volusia Fire Services and Volusia County EMS responded to a fire this morning, Jan. 13, at 410 S. Montgomery Ave.

First responders began arriving at 5:18 a.m. and got the fire under control at 5:27 a.m., just nine minutes after arrival.

Once they arrived on the scene, firefighters found fire and smoke coming from the residence and traced the blaze to a bedroom and attic inside the home.

No one was injured in the fire, but two people were evaluated by EMS on the scene.

While the fire did not completely burn the structure down, the damage was enough to render the building unlivable for some time, DeLand Fire Chief Todd Allen said.

The fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
