A fellow sat down at a table in a DeLand eatery the evening of Dec. 6. He ordered $36 worth of food and began eating it, though he said he was waiting for his girlfriend to arrive.
Eventually the guy asked that the food be placed in a to-go container. He walked outside, telling his waitress he was going to smoke a cigarette but would be right back, and he left a prepaid debit card on the table.
Soon, however, someone saw the guy riding away on a bicycle.
The debit card he left had no one’s name on it, but DeLand police checked it for fingerprints; they found two partials.
Looks like no one has yet successfully identified the larcenous diner.
