Kids of all ages with a dream to fly their own light planes can make their wish come true at the radio-control AIR FEST returning to DeLand Saturday, March 26, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Along with a day of model airplane flying will be a special noon demonstration including model jet fighters. Those interested in taking up model flying, even pre-teen potential pilots, can check out the popular swap meet for used planes of all descriptions for sale, many ready to fly. The club also offers coaching for youngsters wanting to solo.
AIR FEST was not held the past two years due to COVID-19 restrictions, so DeLand’s Golden Hawks Radio Control Club is eager to renew its premier winter event. Lunch and refreshments will be available. Donation is $5 per car.
The Club flying field address is 1300 Matt Fair Blvd. in DeLand, off Marsh Road near the Sperling Sport Complex east of DeLand Municipal Airport.
