Editor, The Beacon:

I’m all for supporting the LGBTQ community. They are beautiful people who deserve the utmost respect and recognition. But, there seems to be a growing controversy concerning transgender people and sports competition — especially males who become females. It’s happened in pro tennis, collegiate swimming and other organized sports.

When a transgender male (now a female) competes against other female athletes, they have a distinct advantage, both physically and physiologically. This is not fair to other female athletes competing against her.

To level the playing field, all male athletes who change sexes would be required to sign a legal document that would prevent them from ever participating in competitive sports, both pro or amateur.

Society can accept transgender persons for their sexuality, but not their athletic ability in competitive sports.
