Extension offers pesticide training May 11

Pesticide workers can earn up to five continuing education units (CEUs) during a Green Industries Best Management Practices certification training session 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Volusia County Agriculture Center, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand.

The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension is sponsoring the program, which is appropriate for employees in the lawn care, pest control and landscape industries, as well as city and county parks, planning, environmental management, and water quality staff. This course is a requirement for the Limited Urban Fertilizer license.

Instructors will teach environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida’s ground and surface waters.
