A 56-year-old man who lives in DeBary and his 35-year-old nephew, whom he lives with, were sitting at the kitchen table the evening of April 22, and they started quarreling over Uncle’s contention that Nephew “fail[ed] to put food items away.”
Uncle acknowledged that he “had a bag of steak and cheese” and that he swung it at Nephew.
When a sheriff’s deputy asked Nephew what had happened, the latter said Uncle “struck him in the left side of the face with a bag of meat.” A family friend who was in the kitchen when the altercation occurred confirmed Nephew’s story.
Uncle was arrested on a charge of battery, and because Uncle and Nephew are related and live in the same household, the meat facial was labeled “domestic violence.”
