Editor, The Beacon:

I was reading Dr. William R. Nylen’s commentary [in the June 2-8 Beacon], and stumbled on his comment that “This country became a democracy.”

Actually, we’ve never been a democracy but a republic, because a democracy can soon become a dictatorship if enough people allow it to happen. Russia is supposedly a democracy run by former KGB operatives.
