With summer here and the world opening up again, employers may find it more difficult to keep employees motivated at work.

In a survey conducted by Captivate Network of American workers, 45 percent reported being more distracted over the summer, and studies found that attendance drops by 20 percent.

Competing with the allure of summer, finding ways to ensure that employees are motivated to perform their jobs is key. Providing employees with the flexibility and independence to do their jobs helps to provide a sense of ownership and is one of the five characteristics to ensure productivity.
