I practiced civil litigation in Volusia County for 30 years before retiring in 2006.

I saw my share of judges during my 25 jury trials and thousands of hearings. I saw the great ones, such as Judge John Roger Smith, Judge Edwin Sanders and Judge McFerrin Smith, and I saw a few that were not so great.

Judge Heidt is one of the great ones. He was appointed by our current governor and has distinguished himself with his knowledge of the law and his efficiency in the courtroom. I will be voting for him Aug. 23.
