No fireworks at this gathering
Not surprisingly, Deltona’s July Fourth celebration included a political bazaar, with candidates and their supporters meeting, greeting and seeking to coax voters to side with them in the upcoming primary on Tuesday, Aug. 23, and the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
The candidates and their displays were hard to miss, as they and their tents were pitched just inside the main gate of the fields of Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex.
After all, that was where the people were, whose votes the hopefuls covet. Not all candidates for all federal, state and local offices were there, but a goodly number were.
In the spirit of the holiday, there were no reports of fireworks between political rivals, as they and the celebrants awaited the literal fireworks.
