For the annual Shoestring Theatre Season Kickoff and Awards Show on Saturday, Aug. 6, director Bob Sollien has gathered some favorite performers to create an overview of the upcoming season. Scenes from each production will be presented as reader’s theater, and actor/singers will perform musical selections from both of the coming season’s musical productions.
This preview of the Shoestring Theatre season guarantees to entice you to buy season tickets for only $80 so you don’t miss a single show.
Also at the Season Kickoff, the Shoestring board of directors will present awards to outstanding cast members from this past season and will thank our many volunteers.
For only a $5 general admission to cover refreshments, you can have an exclusive backstage tour to view the exciting improvements by volunteers in the past year, and to enjoy some refreshments and conversations from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The following weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14, Shoestring proudly presents the 12th annual Young Artists Showcase. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, our young performers will take to the stage to present an extravaganza of musical theater old and new.
This talented group auditioned earlier this summer and have been working with their coaches in order to dazzle you with their skills.
Newcomers this year are Everlee Grooms, Leona Gibson, Simone Stephenson, Matilda Marquez, Brandon Jackson, Noelle Blasingame and Demetris Pressley.
Veteran performers include Brihanna Gayton, Jaidyn and Lorenzo Richardson, Penny and Bethany Wolek, Maya Swain and Sophia Mercado.
The 14 performers worked one-on-one (sometimes one-on-two or three!) with our veteran instructors Tiffany and Ayo Demps, Kirsten Kiwior-Taylor, Ken Taylor, Kate Dalia, Andrea O’Reilly and Anne Sollien to polish their skills and add more tools to their stagecraft toolkit.
This production has a song list to please everyone, with selections from Cinderella, Hamilton, Hairspray, Urinetown, Legally Blonde, Dogfight and The Producers, just to name a few!
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students, which must be purchased through the box office by calling 386-228-3777.
