The City of DeLand launched a new, redesigned website Aug. 11. The site, which can be accessed by visiting www.deland.org, aims to be more user-friendly for DeLand residents and others, Public Information Manager Chris Graham said.
“Our goal was to make the website more user-friendly so any information they’re looking for is usually one click away,” he said. “I’m hoping we can use this site to show off our city to prospective businesses and our residents.”
The city contracted with CivicPlus, a company that specializes in building government websites.
A future goal for the site, Graham added, is to showcase photos of the city submitted by locals. This feature isn’t live yet, but the website currently includes flashy photos of Downtown DeLand and the mural of horticulturist Lue Gim Gong on Artisan Alley.
Users can also set up notifications to receive emails when the city posts new city news or information about special events.
The website includes more accessibility features than the city’s old website to ensure the site meets standards set by the Americans With Disabilities Act.
