The Volusia County Council is seeking applicants for the new Environment and Natural Resources Advisory Committee, which will be tasked with providing input on policy and goal setting as well as ordinance implementation regarding growth management, environmental resource management and development.
Members will meet at least quarterly, conduct an annual goal setting session, and make an annual presentation to the County Council on the accomplishment of their work plan. They will also work with county staff in recommending minimum standards for the protection of the environment under applicable provisions of the Volusia County Charter.
The committee will have 14 members – two each nominated by the county chair and County Council’s five district representatives and at-large representative.
“Our goal is to balance the committee as much as possible with representatives from citizen advocacy groups and civic organizations, professional and government associations, agricultural interests, universities and environmental consultants, and professional arborists and foresters,” said Environmental Management Director Ginger Adair.
Applicants must live in Volusia County and should have experience, education and knowledge of environmental programs and standards. To apply, visit www.volusia.org/advisory. The first round of applications will be reviewed after Aug. 22; however, additional applications will be accepted after that date.
