Editor, The Beacon:
Friends,
On Nov. 8, 2022, we have an important decision to make that will impact our future, as well as the future of our children and grandchildren. The DeLand mayor’s election is upon us, and we must make a choice.
Is it time for change, or are we happy with the way things are in our community? We are recommending to you that it is “time for change.” It is Reggie Williams’ time to be mayor of DeLand!
Rampant growth has affected all of us. Clear-cutting, congestion, long lines, stress on our infrastructure and environment. Have you driven on New York Avenue or on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Beltway/Kepler Road lately? If we keep the same people in city government, we will get the same results.
Reggie Williams is a longtime friend and resident of DeLand since 1971. His family roots span five generations in the DeLand community. He brings 40-plus years’ experience in civic and government service in Volusia County and the state of Florida. He and his wife have raised a family, and built a church in DeLand.
He knows us and our issues. He is not answerable to politicians, developers or the builders. His loyalty is to the people he has served for more than 40 years.
We believe that Reggie is the most-qualified for the position of mayor. At age 72, he has the knowledge necessary to represent us. He has a servant’s heart. He has the time and desire to do the right things.
Spread the word if you agree. We are engaging in a grassroots campaign. Utilize social media, Facebook, etc. to support Reggie. Share your thoughts with those you see at the grocery store, football game, Downtown, etc.
Reggie served us. It is our time to support him. It is Reggie’s time for DeLand!

Thank you for your time and consideration.
