Editor, The Beacon:
Results matter; experience matters! Chris Cloudman has the most-relevant recent experience to be DeLand’s next mayor, and has demonstrated results.
He has been a city commissioner for the past eight years and, prior to that, served on the DeLand Planning Board and the Charter Review Committee (the city’s constitution).
Looking at this year’s budget, you can see these results. We are purchasing 126 acres of land for conservation, repaving 3.5 miles of roads (the most ever), adding more than 2 miles to the pedestrian trail, adding 13 acres of recreational practice fields, renovating Melching Field, expanding sidewalk segments, adding improved median maintenance, and upgrading entry features, all while lowering the tax rate.
During his eight years on the City Commission, the commission has accomplished a lot. Here are some of the City Commission’s results: built a new fire station, renovated Spec Martin Memorial Stadium and Earl Brown Park, started the pedestrian greenway, built The Bridge (a homeless shelter), kept hundreds of jobs by keeping Davita Labs in DeLand, and expanded murals and sculptures Downtown.
Vote for results and vote for experience. Vote Chris Cloudman for mayor of DeLand.
