"72° At the Springs" by Lise Crossman

Lise Crossman is the Deltona Art Club’s Artist of the Month for November. Her painting titled 72° At the Springs is on display inside the doors of Deltona City Hall.

Crossman also has three other paintings and jewelry on display at the Enterprise Museum during the Deltona Art Club’s exhibit.

Raised in the mountains of New Hampshire, Lise has enjoyed art since childhood. At 15, her family moved to Deltona.

Lise started working at Disney World in her 20s and worked as a display artist, decorating the windows of all of Disney’s shops for 23 years.

When Lise gave birth to her daughter, her hip was broken and she was unable to work or walk for more than a year.

While raising her child, she began working as a school-bus driver for Volusia County Schools, which she did for 15 years, entertaining her riders with her sense of humor and often changing hair color. She will be retiring soon and won’t have to rush to the monthly meetings of the art club after dropping off students at school.

Lise joined the Deltona Art Club because she enjoys painting in acrylics and making jewelry. As she puts it, she has “been having fun ever since, growing and throwing bright paint colors around.” Lise is usually seen wearing and showing her matching bead creations at club meetings.

The Deltona Art Club meets at 9:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month September through May at the Deltona Regional Library.
