NEW AND OLD — DeLand’s new mayor, Chris Cloudman, and the city’s old mayor, Bob Apgar, center, smile for a photo with Cloudman’s family. Cloudman is joined by his wife, Megan, and their two daughters, Emily and Isobel.

A massive crowd crammed into DeLand City Hall Nov. 15 to welcome new and old faces to the DeLand City Commission following this year’s elections.

In addition to Mayor Chris Cloudman, the first new face in the mayor’s seat since 2001, the City Commission now consists of returning Commissioners Kevin Reid, Jessica Davis and Charles Paiva, as well as new commissioner DeLand businessman Dan Reed.

A NEW FACE — Dan Reed, owner of a number of DeLand businesses, including Cafe DaVinci in Downtown DeLand, is sworn in to the DeLand City Commission by City Clerk Julie Hennessy Nov. 15. He’s joined by his son, Dan Jr. Reed Sr. was selected by voters to fill the seat on the dais left by Chris Cloudman so he could run for mayor.

Reid and Davis were re-elected to four-year terms, while Paiva will be up for re-election in 2024.

Reed assumes the seat Cloudman vacated to run for mayor, so Reed will serve the remaining two years of Cloudman’s term and appear on the ballot — if he chooses to run again — in 2024.

Reid begins his second four-year term as a city commissioner, while Davis begins her third.

With the new City Commission on the dais, Paiva was unanimously appointed to continue serving as the city’s vice mayor. Paiva has been vice mayor for four years.
