The exterior of The Bridge, DeLand’s homeless shelter and day center, hides the many services provided by staff and volunteers inside, including safe crisis housing, health services, homeless feedings and case management. The facility, at 421 S. Palmetto Ave., is adjacent to The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia’s campus.

In anticipation of temperatures dropping below 40 degrees this weekend, Volusia County is assisting local organizations in notifying residents without stable housing or an adequate heating source that cold weather shelters will be available.

West Volusia

The Neighborhood Center’s Bridge shelter, 421 S. Palmetto Ave., DeLand, will make sheltering available through the evenings of Friday, Jan. 13; Saturday, Jan. 14; Sunday, Jan. 15; and Monday, Jan. 16. Persons seeking refuge from the weather may arrive at 6 p.m. each evening and may stay until 8 a.m. the following day. For more information, call 386-734-8120, ext. 601.

East Volusia
