Residents of DeLand have a heart
A LITTLE WET, BUT SAFE — Table Restaurant employee Kayla Harshman lends a hand to comfort a stray cat that barged onto the DeLand restaurant’s patio one day. Scared, the cat ended up in the restaurant’s outdoor fountain. After being saved by Harshman, the cat was taken to the vet and adopted by other members of the Table’s staff. Editor, The Beacon:

We recently had lunch at The Table Restaurant. While there, we heard a very distressed kitten meowing. The kitten was located but jumped into their water display. One staff member jumped into the water to help rescue the little kitten.

Kudos to the three staff members and a diner with a soft spot for the kitten.
