Chik Chak Shabbat, Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story, Dumpling Soup, The Gift of Ramadan, Hush!: A Thai Lullaby — what do all these titles have in common? These are all titles of banned books in the state of Florida, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis!

Do you know the last time there were banned books in our history? It was during the time of Nazi Germany! When fascist Hitler had his SS troops go into libraries and remove subversive books that were only subversive in his opinion.

That is the same thing that is happening now under this governor!

If you walk into Florida schools and walk into teachers’ classrooms, you will see empty bookshelves in every single classroom. While these supposedly subversive books are being removed from these classrooms, all other books must be approved by a certified librarian. The school librarians are attending required training on what to look for in books in order for them to be “approved!”

Teachers who have books in their classroom that are not approved may be subject to being arrested for a third-degree felony! This is all being done under the governor’s Stop Woke Act! My question to fellow Floridians — is this really what you wanted?

For those of you who chose not to vote in this past election, is this what you wanted? For those of you who voted for this governor, is this what you wanted?

I, myself, did not vote for fascism to come to Florida!
