The Office of Will Roberts – Tax Collector has named its Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year. Both winners were nominated by their colleagues for their exemplary work ethic and commitment to customer service.
“These two team members deserve this recognition,” Volusia County Tax Collector Will Roberts said. “There is a lot of talent in our office. These two ladies were chosen by their peers as great examples for others to follow.”
The Employee of the Year, Kaila Cowart, is a motorist services specialist in the Daytona Beach branch. She joined the agency last year and quickly became known for her professionalism and customer service. On her nomination form, a colleague described Cowart as “a wonderful example to everyone about how to be respectful, polite, and a good team player.” Born in Guam to a military family, Cowart lives in Daytona Beach Shores.
Stephanie Armstrong, Supervisor of the Year, is a motorist services lead in the DeLand branch. She began her tag and title career in 2019 and earned a promotion to a supervisory position. She was nominated by a team member as “the epitome of what a supervisor should be. She is knowledgeable, friendly, kind, professional and helpful. She tries hard to do her best and succeeds at it every day. She is a born leader.” Armstrong was raised in DeLand and graduated from DeLand High School and Florida State College at Jacksonville .
In 2020, Volusia County voters elected a tax collector for the first time in 50 years. Since taking office on January 5, 2021, Tax Collector Will Roberts has made it his mission to improve customer service by making it easier to access the services needed from the Office of the Tax Collector.
