Concerned about the age of the information in support of enlarging a neighborhood on Deltona’s southeast side, the City Commission Feb. 20 delayed approval of the final plat for 127 additional homes.

Vineland Reserve, a planned subdivision north of Doyle Road and south of Collins Road, is a residential planned-unit development (RPUD) that already has 152 single-family lots. The subdivision’s development agreement was approved by the City Commission in 2016.

Noting the reports for school concurrency and environmental impacts of development were not presented, City Commissioner Jody Lee Storozuk was hesitant to approve more homes in the fast-growing part of Deltona.

“It’s hard for us to vote on it if we don’t have all the information,” he said.

”I have the same concerns,” City Commissioner Dana McCool said. “2016 was a long time ago.”

The final plat for a new 127-lot addition, known as Phase 3, would bring the total number of homes for Vineland Reserve to 279, and yet another phase may be submitted for approval later.

The commission voted 6-1 to postpone a final decision on the Vineland Reserve plat until its March 20 meeting.
