Clare Radigan is the featured March Artist of the Month for the Deltona Art Club. She’s a new member of our club, and we’re happy to be able to display her acrylic painting Florida Natives inside the doors of Deltona City Hall.
Clare was born and raised in Virginia, where she majored in painting and printing at Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, she moved to San Francisco, where she earned her master’s degree in art at San Francisco State.
Clare moved to Florida in 1991 and taught evening art classes at Daytona Beach Community College for 10 years. She also taught full time for Volusia County Schools for 22 years.
She didn’t have much free time for painting; however, the desire to paint was once again a strong force she couldn’t resist. So, in 2010, she built herself an art studio and resumed intensive art production, painting for herself and for others to enjoy. She was soon exhibiting and having solo shows, while still teaching.
Clare has been inspired by the edible and abundant plant life in Florida, and has researched and incorporated them into her art. Her preferred medium is acrylics.
Clare has an art show coming up in June at an art gallery in San Francisco, and she and her husband plan to drive across the country with an SUV full of her paintings.
In October, she will have a show with another artist at Ormond Memorial Art Museum. In the meantime, you can visit Clare’s website at clareradiganart.com to see more of her work.
The Deltona Art Club is always happy to welcome artists and new members to the club, which meets at 9:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month, September-April, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave.
