The West Volusia Artists are highlighting Carol Ann D’Agostino as their Artist of the Month for April. Her mixed-media three-dimensional piece titled A Day in the Sun is on display at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center during the month of April.

“Every beach I’ve strolled is a place to collect treasures,” said D’Agostino. This piece is a collection from her favorite pastime.

It’s been more than 20 years since D’Agostino and her husband, Joe, moved to Deltona from Chester, Pennsylvania.

Carol Ann has always been curious about crafts and creations, and likes challenging herself to create new designs. In her free time, she enjoys playing Wii bowling, gardening, and playing word games, especially with family.

An artist friend invited her to check out the West Volusia Art Club. She was impressed by the activities like plein-air painting, museum field trips, art demos and monthly challenges. During the month of April, the artists will “emulate their favorite artist” and share their work at the second meeting. The club members will be exhibiting their work at City Hall from April 1 through June 30. The next plein-air outing is in Ponce Inlet.

The West Volusia Artists meet 9 a.m.-noon on the first and third Fridays of the month at the Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave. in DeLand. Come check us out. Questions? Call club President Melinda Ellis Cummings at 386-846-3330.
