Bagpipes and drums provide music on Artisan Alley for a solemn ceremony kicking off the DeLand Professional Firefighters’ 13th annual Pub Crawl event in Downtown DeLand April 1. The firefighters reported a successful event, with tickets and commemorative T-shirts selling out in less than two hours. The event featured a fundraiser for the widow and young son of Ethan Wilson, an Ormond Beach firefighter who died in a surfing accident in February at the age of 33. Nearly $3,000 was given to the family. Participants in the Pub Crawl travel from place to place in Downtown DeLand, sampling beverages and joining in a night of revelry. This year’s Pub Crawl brought in $14,880; all proceeds are donated by the firefighters to charitable causes.
