Editor, The Beacon:
“You ban books, You ban drag,
While kids come home in body bags!”
This is the chant sung by school kids in Tennessee while protesting the actions or non-actions of their state Legislature this week. It would certainly be an appropriate chant for Florida’s young folks as well, if or when they are to protest the fascist actions of our governor and his lackeys in our Legislature.
Generation Z is the largest, most diverse generation to ever come of age in this country. They will soon be the largest voting bloc in this state and the country, and Republicans are doing everything in their power to alienate them.
An entire generation is about to shun the Republican Party for the authoritarian/antidemocratic mob it has become. Is it any wonder they are trying so hard to destroy our democracy?
