A rifle discharged in the vicinity of Georgia and Florida avenues in DeLand April 29 brought DeLand Police Department officers and Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies, as well as a streaming live TV crew, to Downtown DeLand around 9 p.m. Friday night.

Law-enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 31-year-old Lake Helen man on charges of discharging a firearm in public, improper exhibition of a firearm and disorderly conduct.
