FIREFIGHTER HONORED β€” Deltona Firefighter Chance Bellefleur, second from left, stands as Firefighter of the Year, with American Legion Post 255 Ist Vice Cmdr. Pedro Rosario, Fire Chief Bill Snider and Post Commander Loren King. β€œHe leads by example. He is always looking for new things to learn,” Snider said.

As they have done in years past, American Legion Post 255 has paid tribute to those who rush to the aid of others in times of distress in and around Deltona.

The post has conferred its 2022-23 awards to first responders selected and nominated from within their agencies who serve others in and around Deltona. The group’s awards luncheon April 14 at the Deltona Regional Library recognized the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Deputy of the Year, and the Deltona Fire Department’s Firefighter of the Year, EMT of the Year and Paramedic of the Year. Several city and county elected officials were on hand, as well as colleagues of those singled out for special thanks and recognition.Β

The luncheon was Mexican fare, catered by Tijuana Flats. Post Commander Loren King also commended Fresco’s y Mas, the supermarket at 1200 Providence Blvd., for its assistance in Post 255 fundraising for the awards event.
