GIVING BACK — Students at DeLand High build a cattle feeder for George Marks Elementary School’s agriculture program.

DeLand High School carpentry students work on cattle feeders for the George Marks Elementary School agricultural program. George Marks Principal Shannon Young talked about the program, covered in the March 30-April 5 edition of The Beacon.

“It’s been a good partnership,” Young said. “It makes sense; our students go to DeLand High, so it’s been a real positive experience.”

DeLand High students from carpentry, construction and agriculture have worked with George Marks as the elementary school expands the program. Cattle feeders, chicken coops, and benches are being provided by the high-school students.
