I am a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8093 Honor Guard. This Memorial Day weekend, we provided military honors four times at various locations in Orange City and DeBary.
While in Orange City, someone showed me an American flag with a political campaign ad to elect Marks for Orange City mayor attached to it. I normally do not get involved in politics but found this to be very disrespectful and an inappropriate use of our flag.
I understand freedom of speech, and I fought in Vietnam to allow that right, but you do not disrespect our flag to make a campaign issue, especially on Memorial Day weekend.
That’s just wrong.
