Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood formally filed for re-election June 16. Chitwood has been the county sheriff since his election in 2016.
Recently Chitwood has gained national attention for his hard-line stance against white supremacist threats of violence against himself and others in Volusia County.
As of June 16, the sheriff hadn’t raised any money toward his 2024 campaign.
Elsewhere in Volusia County government, another constitutional officer, Tax Collector Will Roberts, filed for re-election in March.
