Volusia Extension welcomes new agriculture and food systems agent

UF/IFAS Extension Volusia County is excited to welcome Ashley Stonecipher as the new Agriculture and Food Systems Extension Agent. Stonecipher will serve as the livestock agent for anyone in the county with beef or dairy cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and more.

She will provide community members with educational programs and advice on enhancing livestock production and grazing systems and improving small farms, while promoting and supporting agriculture awareness and educational youth programming. Services available include soil and nematode testing, toxic plant and weed identification, and pest and plant management recommendations for pasture.

Originally from Tampa, Stonecipher brings 12 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, with a strong background in ornamental horticulture. Stonecipher earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental horticulture sciences from the University of Florida. She completed her master’s degrees in business management and international business at the University of Florida as well. She also served in the Peace Corps as an agriculture extension specialist volunteer helping her community with food security challenges and nutrition. Ashley will be a great addition to our local team!
