Get ready to embark on a musical journey back in time as the Athens Theatre in DeLand presents an unforgettable weekend of shows that will transport you to two iconic moments in history.

On Friday, Aug. 18, at 7:30 p.m., witness the magic of the celebrated Woodstock Music Festival with Peace of Woodstock — a music-and-visuals extravaganza. The following night, Saturday, Aug. 19, also at 7:30 p.m., get ready to be blown away by The Dirty Doors, an electrifying tribute to the timeless music of Jim Morrison and the Doors. Don’t miss this opportunity to relive two of the most monumental moments in music!

Join us for a nostalgic trip back to August 1969, when more than 400,000 music enthusiasts gathered at Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in upstate New York for a three-day concert that changed, well, everything. The show pays homage to the legendary festival that defined not only the 1960s but an entire generation, capturing the essence of the hippie vibe, the protest songs, and the free-spirited attendees clad in bell bottoms and tie-dye with flowers in their hair.

Journey through the years as you groove to the tunes of Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane and Santana, just like the original Woodstock attendees did. This multisensory show re-creates the magic and energy of the historic event. It’s a celebration that captures the essence of a time when music, love and peace united hearts and minds.

Fifty-four years ago, Woodstock transcended being just a music festival; it became a symbol of the strength of the rising counterculture. More than just a gathering of music enthusiasts, it was a social and cultural phenomenon that shaped the ideals and aspirations of an era. Behind the vocals and soaring guitar riffs, Woodstock represented a quest for unity and understanding.

On the second night, brace yourself for a thrilling performance by The Dirty Doors, a tribute band that celebrates the legacy of Jim Morrison and the Doors like no other. Hailing from Atlanta, this talented ensemble faithfully re-creates the captivating sound and stage presence that made the Doors a transformative force in both popular music and culture.

Led by the mesmerizing vocals of Reed Barrickman, The Dirty Doors will take you on a journey through the Doors’ greatest hits, including “Light My Fire,” “Riders on the Storm,” “Hello, I Love You” and “L.A. Woman.” With their intoxicating sound and provocative songs, this tribute band captures the spirit and passion that made the Doors an enduring musical phenomenon.

The Doors emerged in the 1960s, capturing the essence of the tumultuous era with their enigmatic lead singer, Jim Morrison. Their music combined elements of blues, rock and psychedelia, setting them apart from the mainstream music of the time. Songs like “Five to One” and “Break on Through (To the Other Side)” became anthems for millions.

Tragically, Jim Morrison’s life was cut short in 1971, but his impact on the world of music remains undeniable. The Dirty Doors, with their uncanny ability to channel Morrison’s energy and the band’s distinctive sound, pay a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of this iconic group.

Join us at the Athens Theatre for a weekend filled with nostalgia, music and memories. Peace of Woodstock and The Dirty Doors promise to be unforgettable performances that will allow you to relive these legendary, historic moments all over again. Don’t miss your chance to witness the magic of Woodstock and The Doors in one spectacular weekend!
