After years of successful fundraising via annual marathons, ME STRONG is proud to announce another year of fundraising in support of cancer patients in need. ME STRONG is partnering with The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation for their upcoming fundraiser. This upcoming 5-kilometer race, which will take place on Feb. 3, 2024, in DeLand, will help raise money for the foundation.

The ME STRONG 5K originated in 2011 when Linda Ryan was diagnosed with recurrent cervical cancer. Her four closest friends organized a 5K that would reflect her passion and determination. Thus, the annual ME STRONG 5K race was born, and became the area’s largest and most successful fundraising run for the benefit of cancer patients.

Starting last year, the marathon was taken over by a coalition of Florida Cancer Specialists and local DeLand Rotary Clubs.

Lynn Rasys, executive director of the FCS Foundation, added, “There is great synergy between our mission and the mission of ME STRONG. The 2023 walk/run provided over $250,000 for local patient grants, and we look forward to carrying on the great tradition of ME STRONG and welcoming participants and race spectators from Central Florida and across the country in Feb. 2024.”
