STOCK DEPOSITPHOTOS

Even though roughly half of this year’s hurricane season is behind us, it’s never too late to stock up on batteries, coolers and portable generators. Those are some of the items that will be available for purchase tax-free during Florida’s disaster preparedness sales tax holiday Aug. 26-Sept. 8.

The complete list of tax-free items also includes flashlights and other portable light sources, some types of cat and dog food, soap and toilet paper, paper towels and other paper products.

For a full list of qualifying goods and their price caps to qualify for the sales tax exemption, visit www.floridarevenue.com/disasterprep. For suggestions on what to include in your disaster kit, visit the Florida Division of Emergency Management website, HERE.
