**Official Statement from Volusia County Schools**
Dear Volusia County Schools Family,
As we closely track the evolving situation of Tropical Storm Idalia, your safety remains our utmost concern. Presently, it seems that the storm’s impact might be felt on Wednesday. However, we acknowledge that the storm’s intensity could shift rapidly, prompting changes in our assessment.
We wish to assure you that we are collaborating closely with the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to ensure that you receive timely and accurate updates throughout this event. As of now, our schools are scheduled to remain open. No announcements have been made regarding the activation of shelters.
In this unpredictable situation, we urge you to stay vigilant, stay informed, and stay safe. We encourage you to stay connected to official communication channels for updates as they come in. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities.
Please remember to follow safety guidelines and take necessary precautions. We are here for you and will continue to provide support and guidance as we navigate through this situation together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carmen Balgobin
Superintendent
Volusia County Schools
Love your statement “leading with grace and respect”. As a mother of a graduate and grandmother of a high-school attendee I appreciate you keeping that statement first and foremost for our children. Thank you!
