For the second year, the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority hosted the summer CoolCraft beverage competition. Around 20 local businesses participated, creating a cool concoction with a tropical theme emphasizing the pink flamingo and a West Volusia flair. In partnership with Florida lifestyle publication Flamingo Magazine, the contest ran from June through the start of September.

This year’s winners were split into two brackets: The People’s Choice award, selected by locals, and the Flamingo Magazine-selected victors.

Flamingo Magazine winners:

Alcoholic — Wander Bar Cocktail Lounge’s “One Leg to Stand On,” which embodies Cachaca, a Brazilian fermented sugar-cane liquor, paired with rum, passion fruit, guava and banana

Nonalcoholic — Centro Tea Co. & Plant-Based Kitchen’s “French Flamingo,” a natural limeade topped with their house blend organic J’aime Berries herbal tea

‘People’s Choice’ winners:

Alcoholic — Central 28 Brewing’s “Flamingo Sunshine,” a Florida ale infused with the natural flavors of hibiscus and zesty orange peel, creating a refreshing and invigorating taste

Nonalcoholic — Whit’s Frozen Custard’s “Whit’s DeLand Sunrise,” a captivating creation of vanilla custard infused with orange and cherry, poured over orange soda and topped with whipped cream
