SEEKING CLUES — Volusia County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Julian Elmazi is working to determine who stole an unknown number of prescription drugs from a CVS pharmacy in Deltona.

The Sheriff’s Office said the robbers wanted opioids.

“This was not an armed robbery,” Detective Sgt. Julian Elmazi said. “The man went in there and handed a note saying, ‘Give me some pills, and put this note in the bag.’”

No weapon was seen, but, Elmazi said, “the suspect did imply he had a weapon.”

Video-surveillance caught the act, he said, noting the suspect was wearing a surgical mask, gloves and a hoodie. The suspect fled on foot and no one was injured in the incident, Elmazi said.

The number of pills taken or their estimated value is not available.

If caught, the suspect faces a charge of armed robbery.
