A two-story 30,000-square-foot building is on the rise at Daytona State College’s Deltona campus, and it will feature instruction in nursing and advanced manufacturing. Known as Building 2, the $19 million structure was approved by the Florida Legislature.
“We anticipate its opening in the spring of 2024,” DSC Marketing Director Chris Thomes told The Beacon. “This is going to be huge. The medical-sonography program is a hands-on program that will be offered in Deltona. This is one that the community and the healthcare providers have in demand.”
In addition, Building 2 will have medical-simulation labs, offices, storage, a bookstore and a food area.
SchenkelShultz Architecture, located in Orlando, designed Building 2. The building contractor is Ajax Construction.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that DSC’s new expansion would offer a medical-stenography program. This has been corrected to refer to the medical-sonography program.
