Textile and mixed-media artworks will be on display January through April, in the City Commission Chambers in DeLand City Hall, 120 S. Florida Ave. Created by members of ArtsEtc, the works explore the theme “Water.” There will be an opening reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11. The public is invited to attend.
ArtsEtc is a small surface-design artmakers group with members throughout Volusia County. Members’ interests include art quilting, traditional quilting, collage, painting and mixed media. The works that will be displayed in City Hall include a mixture of these mediums. Viewers will discover works depicting seascapes, underwater images and abstract representations of water.
Among the exhibiting artists from the DeLand area are Bobbi Baugh, Joan Dominus and Mary McBride. Exhibiting artists from New Smyrna Beach are Janet Bernhard and Linda Hoffmeister. Calandra Thurrott is from Port Orange, and Hannah Morse lives in Mims.
The exhibit can be viewed during normal working hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and during meetings of the City Commission or other scheduled meetings in the chamber.
