The U.S. Department of Transportation recently announced that the City of DeBary will receive a $263,600 grant as part of its Safe Streets and Roads for All program. The grants can be used for implementation, planning, and demonstration projects to improve safety and help prevent deaths and serious injuries on roadways. DeBary was one of only 385 cities nationwide to receive this grant.
DeBary plans to use the funding to conduct a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for U.S. Highway 17-92. Working with the FDOT, DeBary hopes to implement critical safety elements that will make the road safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and other vulnerable road users.
