
Editor, The Beacon:
In Eli Witek’s article regarding the annexation of the Spring Hill area, she mentions the group against annexation was informing the residents their taxes would go up. Should that area be annexed, wouldn’t the DeLand city taxes be increasing their annual expenses?
That adds to Volusia County’s already high tax rate. Should the city, at some time, decide that area would be better served by eliminating septic tanks, would that not be a charge to the residences? Why didn’t Witek quote someone against the idea?
Let’s be a bit more forthright in our civic duty.
