Picture this: Elsa, played by Sophie Mercado; Elizabeth Miller (middle Elsa); and Lynnea Massaro (young Elsa) have seen their icy powers take a wild turn, plunging the entire kingdom into an endless winter.
Fear not, though! Princess Anna, portrayed by Noelle Blasingame/Kate Budzinski; Leona Gibson (middle Anna); and Zoey Natal (young Anna) is on a mission to thaw the chill, accompanied by her trusty companions Kristoff, played by Xavier J. Soto-Colon; Sven, portrayed by Robinson Rosenberg; and the ever-delightful Olaf, brought to life by Makenna Grace Moore.
Puppets for Sven and Olaf have been handcrafted by resident Athens costume designer and sorceress of seams Tamara Marke-Lares, who has more than 19 years of costume design under her belt and knows a thing or two about puppets, given her previous work with the Henson family — yes, that Henson family.
This musical isn’t just a show; it’s a magical odyssey brimming with emotions that will have your family singing and dancing in their seats. From the epic “Let It Go” to the adorable “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and the heartwarming “Love Is an Open Door,” every song is a golden opportunity to join in the fun!
At its core, Frozen Jr. is a master class in the profound lesson that true love knows no bounds and comes in many beautiful forms. It stands as a testament to the enduring strength of family connections.
As the characters navigate through a series of captivating trials, the audience is gently nudged to reflect on the significance of familial ties, the warmth of true friendships, and the poignant quest for one’s authentic self.
The lovable characters and inspiring messages resonate with young and old alike. Whether you’re belting out “Let It Go” at the top of your lungs or chuckling at Olaf’s antics, Disney’s Frozen Jr. promises to set your heart aglow with its icy spell.
Save the dates for these inclusive performances: A special audio-described performance takes place Sunday, Feb. 4, tailored for those who are blind or have low vision, and a special ASL/English-interpreted performance Friday, Feb. 9, is designed to make the magic accessible to our friends who are deaf or hard of hearing.
