True to her promise, a local funeral-home founder has donated $100,000 to Volusia County for the hiring of two part-time animal-control officers to enforce regulations allowing people to bring their dogs onto certain beaches.

When the County Council last year voted to devote a part of the shoreline in Ormond Beach as a dog-friendly beach, Nancy Lohman pledged to give of her own private resources to the pilot program.
