Coming soon: Mail ballots for primary election

The new year has only just begun, but the first wave of vote-by-mail ballots are already on their way to voters across Volusia County.

Voters registered with the Republican Party will soon have the opportunity to vote on who they would like to see on the presidential ballot later this year. Voters looking to cast that vote by mail must update their voter registration by Feb. 20.

For vote-by-mail ballots to count, ballots must be received by the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19. Mail ballots already have their postage paid, but voters also have the choice of skipping a step and returning their own mail ballots to the Supervisor of Elections Office at 1750 S. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand.

The presidential primary is just the prelude to a busy election season. In addition to choosing who should be the next president and who should represent constituents in Congress and the Florida Legislature, local voters across West Volusia will have a say in who represents them at the county and municipal levels.

For a full list of candidates who have already filed to run for election in Volusia County, or to request a vote-by-mail ballot, visit the Supervisor of Elections website at www.volusiaelections.gov. Vote-by-mail ballots can also be requested by calling the office at 386-736-5930. Once mail ballots are returned to the Supervisor of Elections, voters can also track their ballots on the office’s website.

Voters who want to vote by mail in the Presidential Preference Primary and have not already requested a mail ballot must do so by March 7.
