The West Volusia Artists want to highlight Lise Crossman as the Artist of the Month for March. Her acrylic piece is titled Key West Roosters. Crossman was on vacation in the Keys when she was awakened at 3 a.m. by these roosters. Her painting will be on display at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center in DeLand during the month of March.

Crossman grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. When she was 15, her family moved to Deltona. Her art career began in her early 20s. She worked as a Disney display artist for 23 years, and her lifelong love of art was put to work in this dream job.

After retirement, Crossman honed her skills by attending workshops and classes. She has participated in many local shows, making many friends along the way. A friend recommended joining the West Volusia Artists in DeLand.

Crossman would like to encourage artists with these thoughts: “Always pursue your dream; never give up. You’ll see progress as you get better.”

Crossman and her husband, George, enjoy camping, swimming, kayaking, biking and gardening.

The West Volusia Artists would like to invite readers to join us. Artists of all levels are welcome. We meet 9 a.m.-noon on the first and third Fridays of the month at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave. in DeLand.
